Annual Block Party!

In the spring of 1991 at an Administrative Board meeting, it was proposed that a ‘street party’ be planned to celebrate the end of summer.  This would include inviting the congregations of the downtown churches to join us for a time of fellowship.  Over the years, a variety of groups and individuals have performed for the event.

It was soon discovered that the end of August sun was intense so a few tents were used.  By 2001, tents were ordered with tables and chairs brought outside from the church.  Also in 2001, it rained rather hard but the party took place.  It has been cold, hot, windy, and just right but the party never stops!  The number attending has varied over the years.

BLOCK PARTY 2017 — was August 27! It was a perfect day. Thank you to all the volunteers who cooked, served, sang, played and everything in between!

THANK YOU – THANK YOU to the Grace Family for your extravagance in donating personal items for Transitions!!  Because of your kind generosity, the  Outreach Committee provided laundry baskets filled with personal items, laundry supplies, etc. – the list goes on and on – for the ladies living at Transitions. The staff at Transitions were truly overwhelmed and so grateful to receive these very necessary items.  Thank you again for expressing the love of Christ to those who are in need in our community.

Random Acts of Kindness–

On Tuesday, October 11, 6 members of the Outreach Committee set out to surprise those in our community who daily provide services of kindness to individuals &/or animals in need–The Animal Shelter, Genesis Hospice and Emergency Room, and The LIfewell Free Store. In addition they left “goody baskets” at 2 local
laundromats–complete with detergent and quarters!–as well as treating a young couple to dinner at Adornetto”s. It is the hope of the Outreach Committee that others will be inspired to perform their own Random Acts of Kindness throughout the year!! There is no better way to spread the love of Christ!!

Congratulations Crop-Walkers!

These walker raised over $750 to feed the hungry! Crop Walk

Thanks to everyone for another great Block Party!

Club Jesus

Is a ministry that takes place each Sunday night at Euclid United Methodist Church. Recently their attendance has grown dramatically to sometimes up to 90 people! Various committees and individuals prepare the meal on the fourth Sunday of each month. The outreach committee is requesting additional hep from our church family by helping this awesome group with paper products and drink mixes. Please drop your contributions in the office or the baskets in the back of the sanctuary. Club Jesus, thanks you!

Collection of Personal Items for Transitions

The Outreach Committee is finished with their collection of personal items to take to the residents of Transitions, our local shelter for battered women.  They sincerely the Grace Church family for their help with this project.  Thank you for your generosity!!

Annual Food Drive

Grace United Methodist Church has had a long tradition of supporting the work of Eastside Community Ministry and the emergency food pantry they operate.  We are continuing that support with our annual Food Drive.  On Sundays in February, you will have the opportunity to make a contribution to the Food Drive  As in the past few years, Eastside has asked that we donate the money. They will then use their buying network to secure the best value for the dollars donated.  This is a wonderful way for our Grace family to share with families in Muskingum County who are in need of basic nourishment. Place your donations in the offering plate on Sundays or mail to the church office.

On October 13, members of the Outreach Committee went out into the community performing “Random Acts of Kindness”! They stopped at the police, the fire department, hospice and other places to spread the joy of God’s love to the community. It’s not too late to participate in this project and perform your own “Random Acts of Kindness” during the month. Just a few ideas: visit a shut-in, offer to do an errand for a neighbor, pay the bill for the person behind you in line at the drive-thru, invite someone to come to church with you at Grace, cut &/or tie a blanket for the Cancer Center, water a neighbor’s flowers or rake their leaves, volunteer at a school or a community agency, the possibilities are endless!! Please challenge yourselves, your family members and friends to extend a kind gesture to someone who is not expecting it!!!!

Mac & Cheese Bake Off
Imagine No Malaria Fundraiser Raised $254.50 to help us say no more to Malaria! Lynnette Lazar madeDSCF3182 the winning macaroni and cheese! All the donations given to this important ministry from Grace totaled almost $650! We pray that the hope of eradicating this disease will soon become a reality!

Blanket Ministry:

The Nancy Hagan Circle started a blanket ministry…but the entire Grace Church community has joined in this effort and is now making blankets to continue this important ministry.  The director of services of the Genesis Cancer Center said they generally get 10 new patients every week! What a wonderful comfort these blankets can be to those in need in our community. We hope you will consider joining us to continue doing this wonderful outreach. If you are interested in helping out please contact the church office.
